The Spike Cup 2517 (and Stunty Cup).
This year’s Spike Cup will begin in November (first round matches on Wednesday 1st).
The team value (TV) limit for The Spike Cup Will be 1550K.
We will also be running The Stunty Cup (if there are enough entries).
Teams that are allowed to enter are: Goblins, Halflings and Ogres. Please let me know if you are interested in entering this cup. Coaches can usually only enter one cup to avoid fixture clashing.
The rules for both cup tournaments will be the same as the rules used throughout season 33 but with the following exceptions:
1. If a game cannot be played then the coach that could have played progresses into the next round and their team will be allowed a friendly. Otherwise teams in the Cups are not allowed to play friendlies until they have been knocked out.
2. Any match that is drawn at full time will immediately go into sudden death extra time with both teams retaining any re-rolls they have left from the second half but receiving no additional re-rolls. Extra time kick-off is determined by a fresh coin toss (or die roll) and first to score is the winner.
Registration for both cups will open on Monday 9th October and close at Midnight on Wednesday 25th October. Registration will be on a first come (registered) first served basis.
Please note that the cups are knockout competitions and you will need to be available to play on Wednesdays throughout November (depending on how far you progress through the tournament):
Please clearly state which cup you wish to enter and include the following information when registering: team’s name / coach’s name / TV / Cash / MNG, as this would be really helpful, thanks.
Example: Endhiem AC / Simon (Sjend) / TV 1510k / +10k / no MNG
Teams (for each cup) will be ranked by TV and then divided (alternatively) into two pools so that there will be an even spread of TVs in each half of the cup. Teams will then be drawn randomly to determine first round matches.
The Prizes:
The gate and the winnings for a semi-final and final are doubled.
The winner of a Major Tournament always receives a special trophy. So long as a team holds a trophy it has an additional team re-roll. The re-roll counts toward the team’s value as normal. A trophy is held by a team until the next time that specific Major Tournament is completed at which point it is given to the new winner.
THE SPIKE! MAGAZINE TROPHY
Because the holder of the Spike! Trophy receives extensive and (usually) positive coverage in Spike! Magazine, the team may add 2 to their Gate roll total as long as they hold the trophy.
The Spike! Magazine Player of the Year (player who gains the most SPPs during the tournament)
After the final has been played! The player gains the skill Fan Favorite (permanently) unless they already have this skill. Treat this as a skill taken on a Double for calculating the player's value. Note that the player does not have to be in one of the teams that took part in the final in order to receive the reward.
You can register for the cups via this forum or by replying to the group email.
