My comments:
GrumpyMaestro's roster is very different from the 'norm' here. It best matches that of SpecialOne but with 1 notable skill change (SH instead of BT).
Grumpy; Why no Apothecary? Is sure hands better on a Hobgoblin rather than a Bull? This would allow for a block or break tackle on the bull (would mean dropping a guard).

Guard spam seems the predominate. I think there can be a point were adding more guard can become less useful as the skill could be used elsewhere but 4 guard is a good number.
I think there is an argument to take mighty blow on a troll slayer but that would mean dropping block on a runner. Thoughts...?

I know you're not a fan of the big guy but he can be a game changer. He is at least a massive threat if anything.
If you take the combined value of the yhetee and my spare lino then that's 190k. An Ulf and a Runner is 200k so math doesn't work out unfortunately

There is a distinct lack of variation in roster building here There is a variation between a frenzy or a tackle skills on a saurus. 2 or 3 rerolls is another thing; Loki - Do you really need 3? What do you find yourself using rerolls on? What else could you potentially spend this cash on? Apo? Is Break tackle worth considering?

My two cents Most people take something completely different from me. Two Ulfs and two rerolls.
I am in the process of trying a new roster. inspired by Ralphs minimalist methodology. I trialed this roster at the recent team scotland workshop and I was very successful with 3 wins out of 3.
My roster:
12 players and an Apothecary. The reserve and the chance to bring a player back are really important for an armour 7 team.
I prefer only 1 Ulf because although the strength 4 is very useful, they are a liability and must be given block or wrestle. This is a skill which I could use elsewhere.
I have 3 rostered rerolls which means I dont need a thrower with leader. This again frees up a skill for use elsewhere.
I have both sure hands and a blodger for ball handling depending on the situational requirement.
2 guarding berserkers are very useful players. guard on these players is not necessarily the most optimal placement of the skill but it is my best option for guard.
I intend to use this roster at Burger Bowl to see if I can maintain my winning streak

My 2 cents;
All builds are pretty similar.I'm sure Garrick is used to his roster and how it plays but it is interesting to contrast it against the rest.
I notice A change from 2016 were Garrick has now dropped the assassin.
This roster has some good points such as wrestle on a witch and all the blodge. It also has a substitute which is a luxury in most Dark Elf teams.
Would an apothecary not be a better investment than a lineman I wonder?? Also, would it be pertinent to drop a blodger to take leader for a total of 3 rerolls?

Garricks Prospective Roster
Stats and rosters from Eurobowl 2016 This is the format that will be used in all analyses. Rosters are in order of who scored the most points and contains useful information such as starting NAF rating, the strength of opposition, opponents accumulated points and W/D/L record. You can also see which positionals were taken and what skills were taken.

As promised, here is a quik summary of the teams I have been using this year;
Bretonnians
I used these first at the UKTC and had a bit of a mare if I'm honest. My skill choices were fundamentally wrong. I should have opted for blodgers everywhere as this seems to be their strong suit. I finished 1-1-4.
I net used them at Monkey Bowl and had better fortune. I took as many blodgers as I could along with the excellent star player Dolfar Longstride (jack of all trades elf). I finished 2-0-1 with them.
They play a little bit like Norse but also a bit like Amazons but they are very much their own beast.
Blitzers: The catch gives you a good hand off option if you need to get out of a jam or score quickly. Dauntless is useful against many teams but acts as more of a surprise to opponents. Dauntless ball carriers can also be useful for moving the ball if necessary. Blodge is your friend and I'd highly recommend taking it en masse.
Blockers: Wrestle is interesting but does not sync well with skills like guard. I like to keep one of these in a linebacker position to discourage solitary runners and I favour blitzing ball carriers with them.
Linemen: These guys drop like flies but fend is great for upsetting your opponent.
The team is immensely fun to use and I look forward to picking them up again in future now that I think I know how to use them properly. In regard to their suitability for a tournament such as Eurobowl; well that remains to be seen. I don't think many nations will field them but for those of you who haven't played against them, I'd recommend familiarising yourself with them because they do have the capacity to upset people who are not used to playing against them.
Humans
I took humans to Bridie Bowl and achieve a record of 2-0-1 and Monkey Bowl achieving a record of 1-1-1.
Everyone knows about humans. They are one of my favourite teams in blood bowl purely because they are a bit of a challenge to use competitively. They have received a boost recently from the catchers becoming cheaper but this is not really enough IMO to make them viable. They also get a boost from being tier 2 but unless we have an expert player; I would not recommend we take them in future.
Necromantic Undead
I took Necros to the NAF champs and got a record of 3-1-2 and also to Granite Bowl where I achieved a record of 3-0-2
I've really pushed for someone to become proficient with this team and I still think this is a worthwhile goal as they perform well at Eurobowl. The boost the receive from being a tier 2 team really makes them competitive.
Golems: Difficult to block both of them up so they are problematic to use offensively. Their real strength lies in acting as a road block. Strength 4 and Stand firm can be very frustrating for your opponent if you use them correctly.
Werewolves: I have surfed more players using these than I normally do with a norse team with 5 frenzy. Movement 8 really gives a massive advantage and can also give you extra mobility on offence and defence.
Ghouls: Fragile and need to be protected. They are probably your primary your primary ball handlers however.
Wights: Normally these are given guard. Decent enough positionals.
Zombies: Meat shields. Used to mark up important players on the opposing teams
This team is also very fun to use and I'll definitely be picking them up again at some point.

Hello guys,
I'd like to thank all those that I asked to try out their allocated teams. I really appreciate your efforts in experimenting with races that were largely new to you. With the limited time available to us we have done well with 9 different races choices being taken by Scottish based coaches throughout the tournament schedule this year and even if we may not have any experts with new teams as yet, I believe we have all learned a lot. I'd especially like to congratulate Mike Rushby on his win at Granite Bowl using Dwarves. An excellent result especially considering the high standard of play on show. Definitely a worthwhile exercise.
I myself trialled Bretonnians, Humans and Necromantic Undead during this period.
Formally, I'd like you all to submit a short summary of each of the new races you used; detailing your suitability to using them, your ideas on how best to use them and potential for using them in the future. I will write a summary of my findings on the teams I used shortly.
I will update the title post shortly with race selections for each member of the team.
