Don't know if we're allowed to start our own threads, but here we go.
Will give some thought to the Necro roster for the Euros, but have just submitted mine for Thrud.
11 players, all positionals, 2 rerolls, block/leader golem, block wolf, wrestle wolf, block/sure hands ghoul, guard wight.
You're not allowed to have two players with the same skill upgrades, basically.
Linus is taking Necro too, he's going with a block/MB werewolf. Will be fun if I end up playing him!

I prefer block on the werewolves to mighty blow.
Guarding wights seems the way to go. Either one or two.
Can forgoe tackle because you have frenzy.
Leader on a golem is best in my view
Double Block Ghouls seem good also
Does anyone else have some opinion?

I do like the option posted above, Leader on golem is amust IMO. I like to have at least one tackle so thats good,, block on wolves and ghouls are a good shout.
Maybe a Sure Hands Ghoul, saves a re roll and avoids the issue of the strip ball WD when you play Woodies

Proposed roster looks good to me.

The only thing I would say is what Valen suggested, a sure hands ghoul may be useful but with so many guard it could be safe without it against Woodies even without it.

The Geordies crunched the numbers at the 2nd JvG and came to the conclusion that 2 FF is better than 1 Asst Coach and 1 Cheerleader so I would recommend that change.

I'd love a block sure hands ghoul, but block > sure hands I think

I don't think Garricks comment on FF vs staff is as easy as just making it a statement. It depends on your intent; if bonus re-roll denial (or indeed capture!) is the most important thing to you then staff is the way to go. And with a diverse and regen laden set of skill positions, your vulnerability to throw a rock is minimal. I'd keep the staff personally, even if it is "sub-optimal" according to some of our Southern neighbours.

I'm in the same camp for 2ff vs 1x each staff - having had a talk round the situation before; I'm not convinced that a straight statistical analysis accurately reflects the various 'aims' that are covered by 2ff/3ff vs staff as Mike mentioned above.
On the team itself, whatever there are so many good choices with logical explanations that its leave too many ifs and buts - personally I do like the claw/frenzy/MB threat to high AV (and general MB threat to low AV) but wouldn;t argue strongly for it over Double Block wolves as they are just a nightmare

Good tournament for me at Red Trophy yesterday. 4 games in a day, 115 with 6 skills for Necro. 3 tiers, with the quirk being CDs in tier 2 so having 7 skills and a double. You were allowed to stack, but I didn't think it was worth it, so took 2 block wolves, 2 block ghouls, a guard golem and a tackle wight.
Game 1 v Kismet's Nurgle. Amazing Tzeentech-themed team that won best painted, but I controlled the game pretty well and he couldn't make much progress. I clawed a Warrior early on, and he was using Lewdgrip, who I don't rate at all. I also removed his block/guard beast of nurgle early in the second half, and finished off with a 2-0 win. He couldn't do much to my armour, which made it difficult for him throughout. Decent local player, so pleased with the win.
Game 2 v Fisher's Pact. Member of Team Wales who knows what he is doing. Again, he struggled to break my armour. He scored in 6 turns, leaving me 3 to score back, until a riot gave me an extra one, so it was comfortable going in at 1-1, and then the second half was my drive, winning 2-1. Only real learning point was that CP have a TTM threat, which I completely forgot about...
Game 3 v Hobnail's Roxamazons. Veteran Welsh player, so could have been tough, but was pleased that my tackle wight came into play, as he removed 2 linewomen in the first two turns. It snowballed from there as I had the numbers advantage, and Roxy did very little - she had a chance to leap free with the ball at one point but rolled the inevitable 1. She then killed herself with a double both down early in the second half, and my tackle wight survived and caused carnage until he was killed in turn 16. 3-0 win.
Game 4 v Twelfman's Lizards. Standard 6 block build, and he was on 3 wins as well. Again, my tackle wight was rubbing his hands, as were the claw wolves. He protected the skinks well, but scored in turn 4, and it was again a comfortable score back to make it 1-1 at the half. The second half got interesting though, as he left 2 saurus one square back. I set up for the chance of a quick snap, but instead if was a Perfect Defence, meaning that he could engage almost all my players and make life very difficult. I was aware that I only needed a draw to win the tournament as net TDs were the first tie breaker, so tried to play conservatively but with an eye to winning if given the chance. Playing conservatively isn't my strong point though, and I ended up needing to make a dodge with the ghoul ball carrier. This failed, which should have let him in for the win, but he made an unnecessary 2-dice block. A quad skulls followed, at the tournament was mine.
So a good tournament against decent opposition. Didn't play perfectly, but very pleased with the first 3 games and most of game 4. Pesky perfect defence...
Thrud next week, a 2-dayer, taking Necro again! Lots of Team England in attendance, should be a good challenge.

Excellent write up Sann. A little luck helps but it wont win you a whole tournament so you must have played well throughout.
Good luck next weekend. Look forward to hearing how you get on
