My comments:
GrumpyMaestro's roster is very different from the 'norm' here. It best matches that of SpecialOne but with 1 notable skill change (SH instead of BT).
Grumpy; Why no Apothecary? Is sure hands better on a Hobgoblin rather than a Bull? This would allow for a block or break tackle on the bull (would mean dropping a guard).

I always go 6 guard with CD's. Makes them a nightmare to play against.

Mike has gone for the unusual option of a Bull Centaur ball carrier, this does mean he only has one bull on his drive for Blitzing duty but also a St4 fast ball carrier. This has worked demonstrably well in Scotland but I am not sure it is optimal against a stronger field, in the analysis above only two coaches went for the Bull Centaur ball carrier option and both ended up in the bottom third. Having said that, it is what Mile is used to so if he decided to change he would have to use the rest of the tournaments available before Cardiff to practise the Hobgoblin ball carrying option.

The success I've had with these in tournaments is because this CD roster is optimised vs Elves, which usually tend to drift to the top in individual tournaments in top flight competition (4-1-1 at NAFC 2017). This is not the case at Eurobowl due to the enforced race diversity.
Eurobowl implies: (1) Less likely to be playing against an Ag4 ball hawk (2) Less likely to be playing against a threat dodging into a cage (3) Less likely to be playing against a re-roll deficient team (4) Less likely to be playing against strip ball
Potential changes: (a) Swap assistants etc for APO [ref (3)]; less likely to end up men down, and potential to save a BC which is critical
Remaining options: (x) Move to HG ball carrier [ref (1,2,4)]; means BC takes break tackle to try and get into a screening position Pro - Frees up a BC for maneuverability Con - Less explosive playmaking, less effective ball hawk if left exposed
(y) If implementing all above, should HG take sure hands? Trades off a 4th Guard on a CD... Pro - Re-roll preservation, fewer decisions Con - Death, specialist requiring protection
Recommendation: I think that I would be happier with the BC as a ball carrier still - requiring sure hands. That has been the basis of my play style, and allows for the 4th guard. I think I should swap bench for the APO, to add robustness. Through sheer dicing, I ended up playing at the last Eurobowl with only 1 BC for at least 7 halves. I also had 3 blizzard weather results. That was tough, especially when your oppo doesn't fail agility rules. However, I caught out opponents several times with the BC carrier to get clear and pull a HG not at the point of attack to use as a 1-man screen and stop them from tagging with more than 1 player, meaning I can easily blitz out (except the dreaded double skulls). This is especially useful vs opponents who default against Dwarves or CDs into a stall out defense - which is typical even in experienced opposition.
Thoughts?

ST4 carrier is always cool, but with AG2 it's always a question of whether you get fucked over by the weather or your dice. If experience says BC carrier is better then I'm inclined to push that option.

I played with BC (and Ogre ball carriers similar ethos) and if that's the personal preference and your play style work around that unless something changes with you go with your '1st choice' you'll be more comfortable rather than 2nd guessing yourself on the day.
I really can't see an overwhelming reason to take 'staff' over Apo - I would say take Apo and don't be afraid to use him on a KO for Dwarf or Centaur (especially) early in a half.
