My Antonine Wall Match Report repeated here:
1 Thrower with Leader 2 Wardancers with Tackle and Stripball 3 Catchers 4 Linemen - 1 Block and 1 Wrestle 1 Treeman 2 Rerolls + Leader
This is the roster I took to Antonine Wall BB Challenge based on Hawca’s League Championship winning team at the NAF Championships. Hawca’s 6th skill was Side Step on one of the Catchers.
Findings (from both Antonine Wall and my NAFC League Championship match with Hawca): Quite a different play style more in line with the Dark Elf Column defence I predominantly use. So Dodging away and keeping a solid defensive screen in the first half. Waiting for your opponent to make a mistake and going for a 1TTD (1 Turn Touch Down) if your opponent manages to score. Then holding onto the ball and scoring late in the second half. Not risking Leap unless the result is already in the bag, the threat of Leap is enough in itself to limit your opponent’s options.
Using the Block and Wrestle Linemen as your main blitzers and protecting the Wardancers so that your opponent gets very little chance to damage them as their loss severely frees up your opponent’s options. So Wardancers predominantly in the second rank as a threat and staying there.
With this approach Woodies suffer less casualties and the Wardancers are much more likely to survive the entire game which allows you to go without an Apothecary and instead have 3 rerolls which is very useful.
Antonine Wall was only 5 skills for Tier 1 so I dropped the Side Step on a Catcher. This skill is very useful for defending the touch lines, particularly if your opponent has Frenzy and in the mirror match makes it very difficult for your opponent Wood Elf coach to pull off a 1TTD.

The Geordies crunched the numbers at the 2nd JvG and came to the conclusion that 2 FF is better than 1 Asst Coach and 1 Cheerleader so I would recommend that change.

I think Sean makes a solid case for Sure Hands over Tackle.

It appears to come down to what to take after Blocking up 5 Saurii. Frenzy looks interesting!

Mike has gone for the unusual option of a Bull Centaur ball carrier, this does mean he only has one bull on his drive for Blitzing duty but also a St4 fast ball carrier. This has worked demonstrably well in Scotland but I am not sure it is optimal against a stronger field, in the analysis above only two coaches went for the Bull Centaur ball carrier option and both ended up in the bottom third. Having said that, it is what Mile is used to so if he decided to change he would have to use the rest of the tournaments available before Cardiff to practise the Hobgoblin ball carrying option.

This is very similar to the roster that I use (initially given to me by Lycos over 4 years ago). I field an extra lineman rather than an Apothecary and Tackle rather than Sure Hands. 1) extra lineman rather than an Apothecary - as Norse Linemen are excellent, he is more reliable as a reserve that an Apothecary. 2) Tackle rather than Sure Hands - Elves have always been an issue for me with Norse and killing them works well . Having said that Apothecary and Sure Hands are also good choices.

All valid points except that I only have 11 players not 12 . The main choice with Dark Elves is (both 11 man rosters): 6 Blodgers (including Wrestle/Dodge) / 2 Rerolls or 5 Blodgers / 3 Rerolls. You cam finesse this by taking an Apo instead of one of the Rerolls. If you go for the more popular (8/14 in 2016 table) 5 Blodgers / 3 Rerolls then there are many other options: 2 or 1 Witches balanced against 3 or 4 Blitzers, Leader or Dodge on the Runner. I go for the less popular (6/14 in 2016 table) 6 Blodgers / 2 Rerolls / 2 Fan Factor because I think the extra Blodger is more useful than an extra Reroll. I go for Blodgers rather than Leap on a Blitzer, Dodge or Leader on the Runner. I recently stopped using an Assassin as the competitive playing community has matured and the assassin no longer creates the confusion it used to, this releases TV20k which i now put into Fan Factor and reduces the number of AV7 players I have to 3. I don't like Dodge on the Runner as I try and play to avoid him having to utilise Dodge on a regular basis. I play a dodge away and defend style so I find Blodgers more useful than Rerolls and Apothecaries. It would be useful to see the stats for the 2017 Eurobowl as I played Andydavo in that and I am pretty sure he had moved to the 5 Blodgers / 3 Rerolls roster which is something I am currently evaluating, possibly with a single witch and 1 fan factor.
